Dining in Comfort

Dining in Comfort

With restaurants reopening, we are finally able to get together with family and friends to share a bite. Let’s brush up a bit on what we need to be aware of as we interact with others outside our households. When in a conversation, we must be mindful of what we choose to discuss. Topics that make those within our company feel uncomfortable don’t have a place at the table. Let’s remember not to hijack conversations. It’s good manners to allow others an opportunity to share their thoughts as well. We also need to be mindful of our voices. Who wants the next table to stop their conversation and just listen in on ours? If we happen to order an appetizer to be shared by all, let’s do just that. Share. If we do not fully enjoy our meal, not because of the cook, but because we are picky, it’s best to keep it to ourselves as much as possible. Criticizing a plate of food we ordered might make those enjoying theirs to feel some guilt. As much as we get together to eat, the experience is mostly about socializing with one other. So, let us bring our social skills with us and enjoy each other’s company in style.
