Text Tone

Minding our tone is easy when we are face to face in our communications. As texting has become a popular and preferred form of communication these days, now most of us do it without giving it a second thought. Sometimes we want to be quick with our text message, which unfortunately can blur the intended tone.

For those savvy with texting, using abbreviations is a given, though not everyone is familiar with them and our message might come across as short or snarky. We could unintentionally get someone in a twist with questions of how and when they had offended us. Thankfully, emojis can help communicate our tone, though it wouldn’t be advisable to use them in business communication.

Let’s maintain a civil and respectful tone with whomever we are communicating with. Pausing and proofing our text message before we send it off will help us to do so.
